Be classic
Prestigious historical rooms and elegant settings for the most "classic Italian wedding".
WEDDING / STORY / TRADITION
The Casa Comunale (Townhall) is the classic location for civil wedding ceremonies: in the Grand Council Hall of the Palazzo dei Priori in Volterra, or in the Dante Room of the Palazzo Comunale in San Gimignano, history and culture take part in your wedding, surrounding the event with an air of solemnity.
In the frescoed rooms, from the arrival of the bride for the ceremony, up to the exit of the newlyweds, the wedding takes place in accordance with timeless protocol.
Marriage amidst the towers of San Gimignano
In the historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a bride cannot help but feel like a princess: after the all-important “Yes" has been said in the elegant Dante Room, we recommend a photo in front of the fresco of Paolo and Francesca in the Podestà Room, where stories of weddings in the Middle Ages are told.
And then, if the bride wants to feel a bit like Rapunzel, do not miss the dizzying climb inside the Torre Grossa (shoes permitting), from the top of which you can take romantic panoramic photos. Experience the thrill of being in the highest medieval tower of San Gimignano, and get lost in the view of a breathtaking landscape.
Between one alley and another, in search of the most romantic glimpse, join your guests in a toast with a glass of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, tasting saffron-flavored dishes just as people once did at Medici weddings in Renaissance Florence.
Weddings in the Sala del Maggior Consiglio in Volterra
Sumptuous and elegant, this room in the Palazzo dei Priori is the perfect place for the celebration of a civil wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, you can stop to make a toast in the adjoining Sala della Giunta, enjoying yourselves in the Palace with your friends and relatives.
The exit of the newlyweds takes place from the main door of the Palazzo dei Priori, the oldest town hall in Tuscany.
Before the wedding banquet, there must be a photo shoot with unique places in the background, places such as the Teatro Romano, the Medici Fortress, le Balze (Volterra’s dramatic crags), and the panorama of the hills of Volterra from the Tondo, a contemporary art installation by Mauro Staccioli.
